Since the founding of the duchy in late 2022, for the first time the Government of Marienbourg issued a passport—in its physical, real version—on July 19, 2025. The document was formally issued by the Duke's Diplomatic Service (DDS) and printed—with due authorization from this body—in a printing press in Poços de Caldas, a Brazilian municipality in which Marienbourg is enclaved, on the initiative of His Serene Highness Prince António, great-uncle of our Duke Arthur V.

The issuance of Marienbourgish passports is restricted to citizens who have held citizenship for more than one year. Requests for the document must be submitted by email, which is then forwarded to the DDS, an agency within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for, among other things, assisting Marienbourg residents in foreign affairs. The fee for issuing the passport is ȶ12.50 for the virtual version—the original version that remains in the records—and ȶ10,000.00 for the physical version plus the delivery fee which must be borne by the applicant. However, the DDS offers citizens the opportunity to print their own passports, once issued, with prior authorization and free of charge.

Marienburgish passports are uniformly blue—by definition, a lighter shade of blue than is typical for many passports, but the first version was dark blue—featuring the national coat of arms and the inscriptions "Ducado de Marienburgo" and "Passaporte" in Portuguese, as well as the biometric chip symbol. The Marienbourgish passport measures 8.5 x 12.5 cm (3.35 x 5.31 inches) and is machine-readable, complying with the ICAO Document 9303 standard and biometrics. Additionally, the document includes a note addressed to authorities of foreign states, affirming the bearer's Marienbourgish citizenship and requesting expedited passage and international assistance when necessary. This note is printed in Portuguese, with corresponding translations in English and French printed in smaller font; it reads as follows: On behalf of His Serene Highness The Duke of Marienbourg, we pray the foreign authorities to provide the holder of this passport with aid and assistance in case of need.
