Duke of Marienbourg congratulates Brazil's President Lula on his re-election.

Arthur V issues public message and formal statement celebrating Brazilian president’s victory, reaffirming his patriotic ties to Brazil and the close relationship between the two countries.

MARIENBOURG, 26 October 2026 — Duke Arthur V of Marienbourg has congratulated Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his re-election, describing the result as a victory for democracy over the “anti-democratic and reactionary forces” represented by his defeated opponent.
Lula secured a second consecutive term in office on Sunday, 25 October, winning 51.79% of valid votes against 48.21% for Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, according to Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The result grants Lula an unprecedented fourth presidential term.
In a public message shared on social media, the Duke wrote: “I congratulate President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his re-election and on the victory of democracy over the anti-democratic and regressive forces. As Duke of Marienbourg, I reaffirm my deep Brazilian patriotism: our countries are intertwined, and Brazil’s prosperity is vital for Marienbourg. I always root for Brazil! Love live Marienbourg! Long live Brazil!”
Beyond his social media post, Arthur V issued a formal statement expanding on his congratulations and the historical, economic, and personal ties connecting Marienbourg to Brazil. In the statement, the Duke emphasised that his position as sovereign ruler of Marienbourg did not diminish his attachment to the country where he was born and pointed out that Marienbourg depends on Brazil in fundamental economic and material aspects. He stressed that Brazil’s stability, prosperity, and development were therefore of particular importance to the welfare and future of his own state.
The Duke also welcomed the prospect of closer relations between the two countries, expressing hope that Lula’s new administration would strengthen democratic institutions, reduce social inequalities, and promote economic and social development, which will reverberate throughout the enclaved sovereign duchy.
His message concluded with a wish for a more prosperous, just, and stable Brazil, reaffirming his enduring support for the Brazilian people and their aspirations for the future.
Arthur V’s remarks underline a distinctive aspect of Marienbourg’s political identity: despite its separate sovereignty and institutions, the small state maintains profound personal, economic, and historical connections with Brazil, a relationship the Duke has publicly affirmed remains central to his vision for Marienbourg’s future. Message of Congratulations from His Serene Highness The Duke of Marienbourg, to the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Your Excellency, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, On my own behalf and on behalf of Marienbourg, I wish to express my most sincere congratulations on your re-election to the Presidency of the Federative Republic of Brazil, as well as on the resounding democratic victory you have just achieved. The result of the ballot represents not only the renewed confidence of millions of Brazilians in your leadership, but also the victory of democracy over the anti-democratic and reactionary forces which, represented by your defeated opponent, sought to lead Brazil down a path of regression. The sovereign decision of the Brazilian people reaffirms that the destiny of a nation must be determined by its citizens through the free and legitimate exercise of their political rights, and not by those who aspire to undermine its democratic institutions and achievements. As Duke of Marienbourg, I govern a sovereign nation endowed with its own institutions and a distinctive political history. This, however, does absolutely nothing to diminish the immense patriotic fervour I feel for Brazil, the country in which I was born and with which I maintain profound historical and personal ties. Marienbourg's sovereignty and my dedication to its prosperity are by no means incompatible with my love for the country that gave me birth. I will always wish Brazil success, prosperity for its people, and greatness for its nation, regardless of the political circumstances or challenges that may arise. Marienbourg and Brazil are, in many respects, intertwined countries. Our realities, though different in scale and organisation, share challenges that transcend borders, and our future cannot be understood without acknowledging the bonds that unite us. Marienbourg depends on Brazil in fundamental aspects of its economic and material life, making Brazil's stability, prosperity, and development matters of particular importance to us. Brazil's strengthening has a direct or indirect impact on Marienbourg's own ability to build its future with security, dignity, and prosperity. It is for this reason that I follow the course of Brazilian politics with particular interest and welcome your re-election with hope. I trust that your new term will be marked by the strengthening of democratic institutions, the reduction of inequalities, the promotion of economic and social development, and the ability to unite Brazilians around a national project that respects their diversity and legitimate aspirations. I also hope that the coming years will provide new opportunities to deepen relations between Brazil and Marienbourg, founded upon mutual respect, cooperation, and the recognition of the interests shared by our peoples. Please accept, Mr President, my best wishes for success in discharging this high responsibility. May your new term contribute to a more prosperous, just, stable, and democratically strengthened Brazil, and may the Brazilian people continue to pursue the path of their development with confidence and determination. With the highest consideration and esteem, Arthur V.
